Here is the list of Basic Rules and Guidelines:
Information
Opinions expressed are the views of the poster and are not the views of the owner, administrator or hosts of the board. You are responsible for everything you post. You are responsible for everything you download, so be careful to virus check every file downloaded. Links (URLs) are not checked. If you click on a link the Mirabilia Board is not responsible for what you may view once you leave the board.
Disruption
Disruption, flame bait, nonsense posting, anything done with intent to disrupt the calm and orderly activity of the topic maybe banned and/or their posting privileges revoked with or without warning. Personal attacks will not be tolerated you can disagree without being personally insulting.
Posters using an account to conceal their identity with the purpose to disrupt, flame, or otherwise interfere with the calm and orderly activity of the board will have their anonymous and REGULAR account banned and/or their posting privileges revoked. There are no exceptions.
Personal Information
Posting of personal information can be dangerous for you as well as disruptive to the board. Any posts with personal information will be deleted. If you need to swap personal info please do it via EZinbox or email.
Profanity
Offensive words used in any post will result in a warning to the poster. Please keep posting G rated. Repeated offensive words may lead to banning or posting privileges being revoked.
Solicitation
Sales are only allowed in the appropriate areas; needlework shop owners have the Retailers Advertising forum, and individual stitchers have the Trading Forum. Please keep all sales posts to those forums.
Illegal Activities
Illegal activities are numerous and could take up several pages of this Terms of Service. Suffice it to say, the Mirabilia Board does not allow any illegal activities as covered by U.S. Law and International Copyright Laws. Most important to this venue are trading commercial software and illegal copies of cross stitch patterns. Banning from the board and appropriate legal action maybe pursued.
For more information, please visit Copyright Information.
The Rules of Netiquette
For newcomers to the internet, and even for those of us who have been around a while, one of the best resources for the basic rules of behavior on the internet is Netiquette Core Rules.
For more information:
Netiquette Rules.
Board Management
The administrative staff and the moderators reserve the right to perform the following duties:
1) Moving posts to more appropriate forums
2) Deleting posts where it is deemed appropriate
3) Locking threads where it is deemed appropriate
4) All general "house-keeping" responsibilites.
If you have any questions regarding a moved thread or likewise, please feel free to e-mail the moderator of the forum or the administrator.
Bumping/Sticking Threads
There is no problem with bumping threads, but we ask that the threads be let "die" after a reasonable amount of viewing. If a thread has at least 150 views, it's safe to assume it has been read and noted and no further bumping is necessary.
If you have a thread of importance you would like to request for stickying, stickied, please e-mail the forum moderator. Threads will be stickied for three days.
Deleting Threads
The administrators and moderators reserve the right to delete a post at their discretion if it violates the rules of the board. The poster responsible for the deleted post will not be notified.
Signature Lines
We at the Mirabilia Board want people to feel free to express themselves in their signature lines, and to have fun! That said, please be considerate of posters that have dial-up when choosing your graphics. We do not have a graphic size minimum, but we just ask everyone to use their best judgement. We also ask that no profanity be used in sig line quotes.
NOTE: If a poster has a concern about another poster's specific signature line, please do not address it on the board (discussions about signature lines in general are permitted). Please e-mail the concern to the Head Fae at stippin@bellsouth.net.
Charity/Donations/Begging/etc
Begging/etc
Any posts that are construed as blatant begging for materials for "other people" or "this wonderful (unnamed) organization I belong to / am helping out" will face a request for more information or to be edited. If they are not edited within a reasonable amount of time, they will be edited or deleted by Management. This is to protect the kind hearted and giving members of our board.
This does not apply to posts about new designs where someone says "I WANT THAT" or "Oh, I wish I could have it, but not right now" or another variation. Statements about "I won't have it unless some kind-hearted individual sends it to me so I can (pay my bills, stay on the Wagon, insert an excuse here)" will be frowned upon, but will probably not face a request for editing.
Put bluntly: Outright begging for stash, food, money, other supplies is tacky (IMHO).
Essentially the board runs by the golden rule; "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you". If you wouldn't care to have something said to you do not say it to someone else. Find a way to disagree respectfully and the terms above are not all inclusive. Use common courtesy, folks.
If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail any of the administrators. We will be happy to hear from you!
