I'll start in the middle mostly and work my way up top, especially if it's a design with a face. On a MIRA I often work not all colours going up to get to the face sooner and once that's done I'll work down, filling in what's missing and doing the bottom part. On TW's I tend to start with the border.

They are rectangular frames that come in different sizes, pull apart for easier storage, can be combined with each other, to make rectangular frames and the fabric is secured on them with a clamp to keep it tight. They will attach to most stands, too. I really love them and loads of shops carry them.
